GREAT Healthcare
Piloted in early 2009 with Saint Barnabas Healthcare Systems
in New Jersey, Parasol partnered with the National Foundation for Celiac
Awareness and developed the first in the country, comprehensive medical
education program about celiac disease for an entire healthcare system.
The enduring program is accredited and has multiple modules:
○
GREAT Family Practitioners
○
GREAT Nursing Professionals
○
GREAT Dietitians: Healthcare and Clinical Settings
○
GREAT Mental Health
○
GREAT Allied Health

- Metro North RR
Awareness Campaign for Celiac Disease April - June, 2007.
Nineteen billboards lined train station platforms in Connecticut,
Westchester and NYC. The project was sponsored by the Greater New Haven
Celiac Group and funded with money raised from the Connecticut Celiac
Walkathon 2006. See
Billboard.
- Connecticut Celiac Walkathon
Started in 2004, and continued annually through 2007, the
Connecticut Celiac Walkathon raised almost $100,000 for celiac research,
awareness projects and to support Connecticut celiacs. Much more than just
walking, there was an
antique fire engine for the kids
to explore, a raffle and picnic, and goodie bags.
US Representative Rosa
DeLauro was named Honorary Chair in 2006, as she co-sponsored the Food
Allergen Labeling Act that went into effect that year.
